Well that’s the end of the work party’s for this year on Millbrook Dam.

Today’s work saw Boyd and Shaun pointing the stone work on the overflow …whilst me and Roy dug out more of the north bank and cleaned the car park and pathways .

We will be back working on there in the new year to get the lake ready for spring. Thanks to everyone who helped out and all the members who continue to support the club . Here’s to another successful year .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

many thanks

Gary

Having done prep work for the last few weekends we were ready to bring the big machinery in this Sunday and get some of the bigger jobs up and running.

We started by building an outlet, a slope onto the main beach area and a bridge over the old stream bed. We have then started the far bank extension and clearance and this will carry on next week.

All exciting stuff to see our plans come to fruition and as the winter goes by we hope to see lots more done.

Just a quick reminder that we have the last work party before membership renewal this Sunday. Work starts around 9am.

We had a fantastic day on Sunday with lots of essential work getting done and a massive thanks goes out to all the lads that gave up their time, we really couldn’t get these things done without this help.

We removed the pipes from the inlet. These were meant to let water out but in flood conditions they were having the opposite effect so it was time to deal with those. Rob built a wall in this area and showed  his skills yet again in conjunction with John to do some very high quality work.

We laid several more tons of wood chip on the paths and carried on with the planting around the perimeter with the long term aim of  creating a natural barrier to run along the fence line.

We again expanded and levelled a nice double peg allowing a bivvy to be pitched or make room for 2 anglers to sit comfortably for a session. This peg needs to be worked on a little more to complete this but the hard bit has been done by the machines.

We also planted more marginal plants and added to the floating island as part of the long term plan to improve the aquatic environment.

The work party for Sunday 5th Feb will have to be cancelled due to the bad weather. A combination of frozen ground and snow means we can’t get the machinery we intended to use to the lake. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and we will make an announcement shortly as to when this work party can be re scheduled for.

Happy New Year and welcome to the second part of the 2011-2012 season at Carrbrook Angling Club, hope your all well and looking forward to getting out on the banks .

The first event is a work party on the 5th of February where you can earn your reduction for next years membership, it will start at 9am and will run well into the afternoon .

Theres plenty to go at and all help is appreciated.

Memberships numbers are up this year to the best they’ve ever been and we are still taking on new members at the normal rates.Your current membership runs out in June

Many Thanks

Gary Rothwell – Club Secretary

Firstly a big thank you to the lads that turned up for the work party Sunday.

Gary was doing a session Friday and took some time out to take a few pics around the lake. I thought they would be worth sharing
